Makeup is a practice that lots of folks partake in; it's fun, creative, and it can elevate your look in a photo. When you're first learning how to use all of those beautiful eyeshadows and colorful compacts, it doesn't look too hard. Eyeliner is for the eyes, blush is for the cheeks, lipstick for the lips, and foundation is for the face… easy, right?
Then you try to put it on yourself, and how you imagine you'd look isn't quite what you see in the mirror. It's nothing to fret about. Getting makeup right takes practice, and without a proper teacher, it can take even longer to learn.
Beauty guru Stephanie Lange has created a video where not only does she show common makeup mistakes, but she demonstrates them right on her face. Then she shows us how to correct these common issues using the proper technique. For example, blush looks more natural and flattering when lightly dusted on the apples of the cheek, rather than brushed from the corner of the mouth to the ear.
Of course, everyone does their makeup differently and is entitled to do so — we're not trying to create a world of clones — but like with any skill, once you know the rules, you are free to break them to create something even more interesting. Ultimately, makeup is all about self-expression and loading up your tool belt with the most tips and tricks at your disposal that will allow you to look the way you always imagined!
