A Large Sea Turtle Crashed This Couple’s Beach Wedding

Everyone wants a wedding to go smoothly.

And it usually does — save for minor, occasional slip-ups. But we wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Weddings can take a toll on any planner, and can really drain the energy of anyone who wants to perfect its preparations to the ultimate degree. However, I find that the most creative, tactful initiatives to planning a wedding almost always creates the most stunning results.

A wedding is the perfect occasion for anyone to rejoice — anyone partaking in the festivities, that is. At least, that's what Reddit user ln3 and his bride-to-be had in mind, when they held the ceremony on a St. Croix beach in the Caribbean Sea.

However, an unexpected guest showed up in the midst of revelry. After the ceremony and during cocktail hour, a tidal surge brought a peculiar creature ashore — and not just any beast. It was a female leatherback sea turtle.

This mama turtle — who is one of the largest living breeds of sea turtle on earth — had come to land to lay her eggs. She paid no attention to the shocked wedding attendees.

"It came ashore, circled around digging a hole, laid its eggs on the beach, covered them back up, and rolled back out into the ocean," said Redditor ln3.

This just further exemplifies the pure courage and beauty of the maternal instinct — whether human or not.
