Have you ever heard someone tell you they're "bad at folding?" Marie Kondo is here to remind us that tidying is not the work of a mad scientist. It's simple when shown the correct way to carry out chores.
Kondo's book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up has sold well over 2 million copies globally, the Wall Street Journal reports, so it's safe to call her something of a tidying expert. In the video below, she tackles that age old puzzle of how, specifically, we should be folding our T-shirts. (All those odd corners always make things tricky for even you expert folders out there.) This hack comes in handy for anything that doesn't get hung up in the closet, or for storing or packing shirts for a trip.
It goes like this. Lay the shirt flat in front of you, and fold the sides inward by a third (you'll fold the other side over it). Then, fold the collar side down by about a third. Fold the folded edge down to meet the collar, and then again so it's been folded three times. Voila! You should be able to fit it into any storage container or drawer in a neat and tidy manner — that is, after you've folded all your other shirts the same way.
