The year 2016 seems as if it just won't stop taking away some of the greatest artists and visionaries of our era, and it's ripped away yet another legend from us all.
Legendary singer-songwriter, poet, epic, and enigmatic Leonard Cohen has passed on at the age of 82.
A statement on his official Facebook page read, “It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief.”
Cohen, who only a month ago released a new album, "You Want It Darker," has been on the music scene for six decades and found himself playing alongside other musical greats such as Paul Simon and Bob Dylan.
And while he didn't get an album to reach the top 10 until he was in his 70s, he always maintained a massive amount of respect for his prolific and spell-binding lyrics.
His most well-known song, “Hallelujah,” has been covered and recorded by other artists over 200 times, and he has truly created a legacy of astounding songs due to the peculiar elegance of his pen which will ensure that his name will be remembered as one of the absolute greatest poets of our time.
Rest in peace you Last Year's Man, you will be sorely missed. We hope you found what you were searching for.
