I love the creativity that people have used to create truly incredible American art. So when I saw what this man did using thousands of old license plates, I was completely floored.
Aaron Foster is an artist who uses license plates to create artwork. He has made everything from cars to cowboys to peace signs entirely from vintage plates. But his most impressive pieces? These patriotic works of art are absolutely stunning. The photos below show his gorgeous and iconic pieces of Americana.

For the past 14 years, Aaron Foster has been making truly beautiful art out of vintage license plates.
Aaron writes on his website, "In 2001 I was trying to figure out how to impress a woman I had a huge crush on. She was an artist and I thought, hey, i'll just make something cool and show her that I can be 'artsy' too."
He writes, "So I made her a US map out of license plates and while it was never the plan, I haven't stopped since."
Over the years, Aaron has created thousands of pieces, including some of the most patriotic upcycled art in existence.
He writes, "Every piece is made almost entirely from recycled license plates." And using plates from all 50 states, his work truly is representative of all of America.
His unique approach to art has gained him quite a bit of notoriety, with pieces appearing at the Smithsonian and the American Folk Art Museum.
When talking about why he continues to make his art, Aaron writes, "It's just supposed to be cool to look at and maybe make you smile a bit. That's it."
Aaron's works of art have been for sale in galleries and online, and many major companies have commissioned pieces including Twitter, the NFL, and CNN.
Prints and reproductions of his creative American art are sold in stores like Target and have even been turned into puzzles!
Aaron has travelled the country making his art, bringing it from New York City, to Boulder, Colorado, to Los Angeles, where he currently resides.
