They're calling little Mario's harrowing story "a miracle." When the 3-year-old little boy was playing, a car had stalled and was rolling in reverse. Mario ran too close to the moving vehicle and somehow got pulled under.
The tire of the vehicle went over the tiny child's head, and began to crush his ribs. The tiny boy was stuck and screaming, but it was at that moment that neighbor Michael Archuleta rushed into action.
He approached the car at breakneck speed and did the only thing he could think of: lift. He lifted the thousands of pounds of metal, straining ferociously as the car slowly began to inch higher and higher. "I just grabbed the car and lifted it up, the adrenaline was pumping so much, tires came off at least a good ten inches from the ground." Archuleta calmly said when recounting the experience.
While the car was raised, another neighbor dragged the boy from beneath it and rushed him to the hospital. While it seemed like the boy would survive, Archuleta was still shaken, "I stayed up all night crying… Hoping I saved his life." he shakily said, "No kid deserves to go through that."
When little Mario's doctors were informed of what had happened they must have had trouble believing it. For being crushed by a car, this little boy only suffered from a few scratches and cuts. Not a single broken bone, and no damage worth worrying too much about. The local police deemed the whole affair an accident, and with no severe injuries, it looks like this story has a happy ending for everyone involved.
"It's not that I'm a hero." said a humble Archuleta. "I was just doing my job."
