It's every parent's worst nightmare to hear that something tragic has happened to their child. There's no keeping your child out of harm's way 100 percent of the time, so there are bound to be accidents. With any luck, these are minor situations that can be helped with a bandage and a kiss on the cheek.
But that isn't always the case.
For friends Jansen Tabor and Cameron Poimboeuf, their accident was one of the worst that can happen to anyone.
While vacationing in Clearwater, FL, the boys were on the beach as a quick-moving storm rolled in.
They began running off the beach, but they weren't quick enough to clear the sand before a bolt of lightning struck them.
The two were immediately knocked unconscious as three witnesses ran to help them. It was the efforts of these total strangers, including a nurse from Pennsylvania, that ended up making the difference between life and death for Tabor and Poimboeuf.
Both boys were rushed to the hospital where doctors confirmed that, with an event like this, they were lucky to still be alive.
Thankfully, Tabor and Poimboeuf eventually made a full recovery and left the hospital, although Poimboeuf was left in worse condition than Tabor.
As Tabor's mom Claudette explains, it wasn't exactly how'd they'd imagined spending their vacation, but she's just thankful that there were kind strangers around to help her child in his time of need.
