Lightning Strikes Myrtle Beach In This Amazing Slow-Motion Footage

Nature is full of mystery and wonder, and can sometimes be a little dangerous and unpredictable. There's no telling what can happen as soon as you walk outside — even your own backyard can sometimes be the scene for nature's fury!

Thunderstorms are particularly scary, especially when there's lightning. The combination of the loud rumbles of thunder and the flashes of lightning are enough to make anyone cower under their bed, but some people love watching the dark clouds roll in.

These beachgoers on South Carolina's Myrtle Beach know a storm's coming, but they have no idea how close it already is. The shoreline seems harmless, and while the waves seem to be getting bigger, they are not yet a threat to them.

Then, without warning, a bright bolt of lightning strikes the beach.

Anything on the beach is already nothing but a speck, but the bolt of lightning makes everything around it tiny and insignificant. That day, it was only one out of 1,000 bolts recorded in the area, and this slow-motion video shows us how awesome each one is up close.

We would never be able see something like this in real time with the naked eye!
