If you've ever been to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., then you know how amazing the acoustics in the space are. It seems like you can hear every whisper, yet everything is bouncing off of the tall ceilings with such abundance that it turns into this constant, relaxing murmur. It's a pretty cool experience to be in that historic space like that, with the view of the reflecting pool at your back.
I'm sure that musicians, especially singers, get really tempted to bust out a tune every time they're in the Lincoln Memorial. That might not always be appropriate, since this is a place where people come from around the world to fully take in the American experience. But on one occasion, it was perfect.
A woman in yellow stands off to the side of the monument while her friend films her on the phone. He tries to convince her to do something crazy, but she's a little bit too shy to do it. There are, after all, tons of people there, some of whom are guards waiting to find trouble.
But once she works up the guts to finally sing the National Anthem, that's when the others start to fall silent and a crowd starts to gather around her. You can tell that with each passing second, she gains a little bit more confidence in herself.
By the end? Well, you have to see for yourself. She's just as great as famous stars singing the national anthem!
