Whether you're part of the movement or part of the resistance, you cannot deny that Nintendo's Pokémon Go has positively swept the world. In an unbelievable coincidence, the popular game might have also brought closure to a Dutch man, who reportedly lost his younger brother 15 years ago.
According to DailyMail, Robin Reijers, 21, was playing Pokémon Go while strolling through his hometown of Edam in the Netherlands, when he decided to visit his brother Michael's grave site.
Michael, who reportedly died of a congenital heart condition, loved Pokémon so much that his family made him a Pokémon-themed tombstone.
However, when Reijers approached his brother's grave, his phone began to vibrate.
Upon checking the app, he was shocked at what he found: a virtual Pikachu had appeared right in front of the wooden Pikachu tombstone.
Reijers snapped a picture of the coincidence, and once it was shared on a Japanese twitter account, the photo went viral, racking up over 30,700 likes and 30,100 retweets.
One Reddit user was thankfully able to translate the caption of the tweet.
"There was a Pikachu on the grave of my little brother who loved Pikachu," it said. "(In Pokémon Go, Pikachu is rare and does not appear much.)"
"We have always played Pokémon together as children, back then on the Gameboy Color," Reijers told DailyMail. "I hope he is watching me playing the game right now. He always got the upper hand of me in Pokémon."
