As a writer, I sometimes feel like there just aren't enough words to really get across a point even after scouring my trusty thesaurus for what seems like hours.
Apparently I'm just not looking in the right place! I was so shocked to discover how many items we all see every day or things we do constantly that I previously assumed simply didn't have names — but they actually do. It made me feel like I was back in school taking a pop quiz and realizing I would not make the best grade by a long shot.
Of course, even as adults, we should always continue to seek new knowledge or brush up on what we already have.

1. The day after tomorrow
The term dates all the way back to the Middle Ages and I'd personally love to see it come back in style!
2. The day before yesterday
This one is a bit of a mouthful, though, and probably not something we even reference too much in conversation.
3. The dot above lowercase "i" and "j"
Without this little fella, the letters would just look like a line or a curve randomly on your page.
4. Tummy rumbles from hunger pangs
Saying this one out loud even sort of sounds like the feeling!
5. The fresh, clean smell after rain
That's right, one of the most beloved and sought after scents on the planet has a proper name.
6. The sound of leaves rustling through wind
You'll definitely want to remember this one to impress all of your friends as a smarty-pants when the leaves start to fall.
7. The act of throwing something (or someone) out a window
Littering is one of my biggest pet peeves, but the fact that this term includes fellow humans in the definition is a bit more disconcerting.
8. The small dent above your lip and under your nose
This is something I never even thought to look up!
9. The divider on a checkout counter
You have to admit, this one is way more fun than simply calling it a divider.
10. A sudden chill or burst of excitement
This happens to me all the time when I listen to a new song and it feels like it's hitting me right in my soul.
11. A full 24-hour day
Honestly, I'm not quite sure I could pronounce this mouthful.
12. A word censored with "@#$%&!"
I don't know about you, but I always assumed that was just a random series of symbols before this!
13. A brain freeze
OK, I can definitely see why we simplified this tongue-twister into the more descriptive and succinct term.
