Adrienne Bird didn't even know her locket was lost until she saw a Facebook post about it.
This wasn't any old locket. She, her sister, and her daughters each have one, and they all contain a small amount of her mother's ashes. She had died two months prior from breast cancer.
Adrienne's heart-shaped locket embossed with the word "Mom" on it was lost when her 1-year-old grandson accidentally ripped it from her neck during a family outing.
Soon after, it was found by 10-year-old James Metcalf at the same amusement park where Adrienne lost it. His mother then posted a picture of the locket on Facebook. The picture went viral, and it wasn't long before Adrienne's daughter saw it online.
Now, she's grateful for the boy's honesty, clearly moved by his gesture when James and his mother, Tonya, traveled to her home to return it.
"I appreciate that more than you will ever know," she tells James.
In fact, she's even calling her reunion with the precious necklace a "miracle!" In return, she gave James small gifts to show her gratitude, including football gloves and wristbands.
Adrienne says she'll be getting a different chain for the locket, so that she won't ever lose it again.
