They invited 100 women to a movie theater and then made them cry…for 162 minutes.
I haven't seen people cry this hard at a movie theater since Mario popped the question to his girlfriend Elaine in one.
L'Oreal decided to conduct a little experiment. When the women arrived to the movie theater they got their makeup professionally done by the company's beauty experts. The ladies were then instructed to have their photo taken before watching the film.
I know what you're thinking: Who needs to get their makeup done for a movie when the theater is so dark? Just watch and see.
The women are shown a movie that is a notorious tearjerker: Titanic.
It's pretty clear that throughout the entire film most of the women are either dewey-eyed or bawling. When (spoiler alert) Jack tells Rose he'll never let go, there isn't a dry eye in the audience.
According to a study by tear researcher Ad Vingerhoets, "Women cry 30 to 64 times a year, whereas men cry just 6 to 17 times per year."
While no one has determined why women cry more frequently, some scientists posit that men simply have bigger tear ducts making it less likely that their tears will spill over the lid. Ladies, he is crying, we just can't see it! So what's the whole point of this weepy experiment?
Watch the video to find out and SHARE if you totally cried the first time you saw Titanic.
