An item can be worth $1 million, or just $1, but if it has a special meaning to us, then it is priceless. The object can be as mundane as a photo album, or it can be as precious as a piece of jewelry — what matters is how it makes the recipient feel. So when Rickesha Wright lost a $40 necklace, most people thought that it was simply a replaceable item.
But little did they know that the necklace was given to her by her husband, who is dying of Stage 4 colon cancer and doesn't have long to live. The necklace was to be passed on to their daughter once she got older. She sees the necklace as a symbol of their love, which she would, of course, never want to lose.
But when she did, she posted on Stolen KC, a Facebook group dedicated to finding and looking for lost objects, hoping that someone might have already found it. The post was liked and shared, but she had no answer.
But the heartbreaking post explaining the family's situation caught the attention of Jennifer Bell, who works at Helzberg Diamonds, where Wright's husband originally bought the necklace. She realized that she had it in the store, and with a colleague, managed to pool together enough money to buy it.
Now watch for the moment Rickesha is handed the small bag…
