Lucy Spraggan Gives Emotional Performance Of ‘Tea And Toast’ On The ‘X Factor U.K.’

When Lucy Spraggan walked onto the X Factor U.K. stage in 2012, she blew everyone away with her incredibly clever original song. The next day, however, she failed to live up to that impressive performance with an awkward second audition. Placed with two other girls, she didn't even manage to finish the song and left the judges wondering if she was just a one-hit wonder.

But the Sheffield, England, native was given another opportunity to prove herself the very next night. Accompanied once again by her guitar, she explains how she chose a combination of a few of her favorite songs for this performance. However, judge Tulisa decided she'd rather hear another one of Spraggan's original tunes. The 20-year-old warned them that the ditty would be a sad one, inspired by a real couple she had seen, but they urged her to go ahead anyway.

Titled "Tea and Toast," the lyrics are certainly much different than the bawdy lines she sang in her first audition. The song follows a man named Tom from the day he was born "far too fast," which caused him to lose his mother, and follows him into old age with a family of his own. Though Tom's dad didn't like to discuss his mom, the chorus explains how he would still remind his son about the uplifting words of hope and guidance she always said.

The emotional tune put tears in everyone's eyes, including the judges', as she finishes Tom's story. I have to admit, I got pretty weepy about it myself!
