It turns out that making your own bacon from pork belly is incredibly simple. While prices on pork belly vary, it will definitely turn out to be way cheaper compared to pre-packaged bacon! If you've got a butcher section in your local supermarket, you should be able to get it for around $1.50–$3.00/pound, which is crazy when you realize that store-bought bacon is around $6.50/pound.
After you've gotten your pork belly, you just cover it in your own special blend of salt, pepper, sugar, and thyme. After a week in the fridge, your bacon is ready to be smoked on your charcoal grill!
