Man At Garage Sale Looks Under Table, Has Gut Feeling About Baseball Bat Selling For $1

Sue McEntee of Des Moines, Iowa set up a garage sale one Saturday morning. A man named Bruce Scapecchi passed by, and since he frequents flea markets looking for rare finds, he decided to peruse her used items.

Bruce quickly noticed an old table with various items scattered underneath, including a collection of worn-down baseball bats. One of the bats in particular caught his eye. It was made from a special type of wood, narrower than the other bats and had a unique signature grip. And Sue was selling it for just one dollar.

Extremely curious about the bat, Bruce picked it up and brought it over to Sue. She said her kids grew up playing with the bat in their backyard but she didn't know anything about its history.

Bruce had a nagging feeling she was charging much less than she could have been for such a potentially valuable bat. He felt badly about buying it for one dollar. So, in an effort to explain his reasoning to Sue, he asked her for a pencil.

He proceeded to rub the pencil across the wood to see if the bat was authentic. Within seconds, an engraving appeared — and it revealed the stunning truth behind this mysterious garage sale find.
