While the young girl was in the bathroom, the man allegedly reached through the window and grabbed her by her hair, threatening her and pulling her "upwards as if to take her through the window," according to the news release.
Police say that the man ended up running away since he couldn't pull her out of the window, and it's unclear where he went. In the news release, police described the suspect as "an adult black male, 5'6" to 5'9" tall, on the thinner side, bald with some facial hair."
To help with their investigation, police have asked those who live in the area to check their cameras to see if they have any footage of the suspect. The kidnapping attempt occurred just days after the Kent Police Department shared that three 11-year-old girls intervened when they saw a man who appeared to be trying to kidnap a 6-year-old girl.
On July 16, 2024, at around 8 p.m., the 11-year-old girls noticed a suspicious man holding onto their 6-year-old neighbor as they approached an ice cream truck in their neighborhood.

The three girls approached the man, started using their phones to record what was happening, and confronted him directly, asking him if he knew the 6-year-old girl, who appeared to be distressed. Though he allegedly claimed that he did know her, the 6-year-old girl shook her head "no." After the 11-year-old girls confronted him, the man let the 6-year-old girl go and the girls took her back to her apartment. Police praised them for their "selfless bravery."
Police identified and found the man, arresting him. FOX13 reported that the man, 40, told police that he just "asked a young Black girl to help him with his prayer beads." Later, he reportedly told police that he didn't interact with the young girl at all, the outlet reported.
The man involved in the most recent alleged kidnapping attempt in Kent, is still at large.
