Dad Walks Daughter Down The Aisle, But There’s NO Groom. The Reason? I’m In Tears!

Dad is an important part of a woman's wedding day. From the moment he walks her down the aisle, to surprising her with extraordinary gesture like this dad who learned sign language, every bride will always remember those heartwarming and intangible memories from her big day.

For Emily Campbell, she was afraid her dad — who has stage four breast cancer — wouldn't be there for her October wedding, so the Norton Cancer Institute planned a special ceremony for both father and daughter. This past weekend, Hugh Campbell fulfilled his dying wish to walk his daughter down the aisle.

The ceremony brought tears to the family and friends in attendance, as the pair walked down the aisle and did the traditional father-daughter dance. The only thing missing from the pre-wedding ceremony was the groom. Emily said she didn't want her fiance, Anthony, to see her in her dress until October.

Hugh, who has been battling cancer for seven years, is praying he can make it to his daughter's actual wedding and says he is going to "try to hold the cancer back" for just a little longer.

During the ceremony, Emily said ever since she can remember, her dad has been her biggest fan.

"You tell me daily how proud you are of me, when in reality I'm so proud of you. I have never seen someone with so much fight and even more spunk," said Emily Campbell.
