In the United States, Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1907. President Woodrow Wilson made things official in 1914. Today, the day is synonymous with brunch, flowers, and bottomless mimosas.
Mandy Moore took to Instagram on Mother’s Day 2024 to celebrate motherhood in all its glory. This includes the highs and lows. It is her hardest yet favorite role to date.
Mandy shares Augustus "Gus," 3, and Oscar "Oz," 18 months, with husband Taylor Goldsmith. Her post featured a carousel of photos of the brothers. There were mirror selfies, brotherly bonding, and lots of hugs.
Mandy made sure to include a broad definition of mother. “Cheers to all those who mother. I salute you today and always (especially my mom, stepmom, mother in law and community of mom friends I stand in awe of),” her caption began.

She even recognized that this day might be difficult for many while still celebrating all things mom. “It’s the greatest club and truly the most exhausting and exhilarating job I’ve ever been lucky enough to get to do. Thanks to Gus and Oz for choosing me. Extra love to those who find today difficult for any and all reasons. I see you,” she concluded. Mandy is thankful for her family and life she has created with them.
