Being away from your loved ones is so difficult…especially when you have to miss out on something important.
One thing I admire most about our brave men and women of the military is how they put their country and other people first, before their own wants and needs. People tend to easily forget just how much they sacrifice when they go on deployment. Missing out on major family moments can often be the most difficult part of serving overseas.
In this video, we saw how a new father traveled nearly 24 hours straight just to meet his new baby girl. The thought of this dad watching his daughter's birth via Skype made me feel heartbroken, and I was so happy that he was released early and able to make the big trip. In the following story, we learn of a young Marine who is supposed to be stationed in Japan…or so his family thought. Drew was heartbroken to have to miss his sister Kady's wedding day, so he decided to secretly plan a trip halfway across the world to be there for her big day in Iowa.
Kady's dad walked her down the stairs to the aisle and when they got there, she was stunned to see her big brother. Nothing beats this amazing family moment!
