This Silent Drill Team Puts On An Incredible Performance During Sunset Parade

The Sunset Parade is an amazing one-hour demonstration featuring the incredible Marine Corps Silent Drill Team marching alongside the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.

Every summer, from the day after Memorial day until mid-August, this presentation of our nation's elite defenders will leave anyone lucky enough to witness their precise talents in utter awe.

On the 179th birthday of the Corps, a few years after the famous raising of the flag on Iwo Jima, a bronze memorial monument was unveiled at Arlington National Cemetery. President Eisenhower dedicated the memorial to all Marines who had died to keep our great country free.

Then, in 1956, the marching and musical units from the Marine Barracks in our nation's Capital began to respectfully and publicly perform their tribute to the Marines who paved the way before them. In an informal gathering, locals and civilians were allowed to watch this special performance from the best of the best of our nation's armed forces.

Over the years they kept up the tradition, performing their thanks for those that paid the ultimate price to keep our country safe. As the sun set, the 36-foot-tall statues casting huge shadows across the summer grass as the silent drill team quietly gave their thanks and utmost respect to their fallen brothers of the past, present, and future.

If you're ever in D.C. on a Tuesday night during the summer, you definitely want to experience this if you can. Let us know if you've ever watched the Sunset Parade in the comments below!
