As the flowers continue to bloom and temperatures continue to rise, it becomes clear that summer is quickly upon us. And when the sweaters come off and the flip-flops slip on, that can only mean one thing: party season!

The beauty of early summer is the perfect time for cookouts, outdoor weddings, and simply hanging out with friends. And when you're planning a summer soiree, you'll need to provide your guests with something as sweet as the season itself.

That's why this Mason jar craft is so brilliant. Not only is it cheap and easy, it's also adorable. You'll have a blast making it, and your guests will love sipping from it!

To make this incredible gift or party favor, start off with a Mason jar. I went with a half-pint jar, but a pint would work, too.

Then I stopped by the local craft store and picked up some cute paper straws. These were really cheap.

I also grabbed some gift tags, but you could make these yourself out of stock paper. I wrote a different message on each, but feel free to write whatever you wish.

To give my jar a nice rustic look, I decided to go with twine — but you could use baker's string or ribbon.

Tie it around a few times, then make it nice and tight — but don't knot it.

After tying it around, make a loop. Keep it open for the next step.

Slip your straw through the open loop, then tighten the twine.

Make another loop, just like you did for your straw.

Through this loop, slip a mini-bottle of liquor.

Pair the liquor with a soda of your choice. I chose to make this one rum and Coke.

With the still-dangling twine, slip on your gift tag.

Tie it in a nice bow, then snip the excess length.

Primp your bow, and you're done! Now you have a ready-made Mason jar cocktail favor.
