Paying for school can be a real pain. Not only does it take a while to save money, we sometimes don't end up meeting our goals no matter how long and hard we tried. A woman named Mercedes Edney knows all about this struggle, but the ending to her story is an amazing one.
Mercedes wanted to attend esthetician school and decided to make a YouCaring account where friends, family, and strangers could all come together and help her raise the money she needed for tuition.
After a while, Mercedes had enough money to hold her spot at the school while she raised the rest of the money she needed to pay off her tuition. She had $895 and wrote out a check to hold her seat at the beauty school she wanted to attend.
It wasn't long before the unthinkable happened.
Mercedes got a strange alert from PayPal about her YouCaring account. The number was completely different, so she thought it was some kind of glitch. Then, she learned that Chrissy Teigen was helping her out.

This is Mercedes Edney. Her journey to esthetician school wasn't going to be easy, but she was ready. The first step for this self-proclaimed "skin-care fairy" was to save up money for tuition.
She was able to raise $895 through her YouCaring online crowdsourcing page, which helped save herself a seat in class. However, she still had a long way to go in order to pay off her full tuition.
Then, she received a strange PayPal alert that was almost too good to be true.
When she looked at her account, she realized the number had changed. There was a large donation of $5,605, which she couldn't believe was real — until everything was confirmed.
In a post, she explains: "Something absolutely amazing happened last night. Many of you know how much I love skin care and my plans to attend esthetician school next month. Last night I posted my tuition fundraiser on Twitter and something I never in my wildest dreams happened. My PayPal alert went off, and as I looked at my phone, there was an amount of $5,605. I thought it was a glitch. I then looked at my email and realized it came from my fundraiser."
The big spender happened to be the one and only Chrissy Teigen!
Mercedes adds: "@chrissyteigen donated my entire tuition money for school. I have been crying all night and I cried in the office this morning as I paid my down payment for esthetician school. I haven't been this happy in a very long time. Thank you Chrissy and thank you to everyone else who voted or rtd my link or have supported me this entire time. It means more to me than you'll ever know."
Mercedes was overjoyed, and she thanked Chrissy for all of her support in a conversation on Twitter.
Thanks to the donation of the famous model and mom, Mercedes will be able to attend esthetician school in May, just like she wanted to.
