There's something about tiny things that are just automatically lovable. And that's doubly true when it's something handmade!
That's why we're super-excited about this exquisite dollhouse fit for a mermaid princess.
It was created by miniature artist Peter Gabel, who also makes tiny replicas of plants and flowers from paper, as well as decorated eggs. And as we learned, it takes a very steady hand and a lot of talent to work with something as delicate as eggshells.
This amazingly detailed dollhouse is created entirely from shells and sand. Everything, down to the most minute detail, is made using shells. Some of the shells have been sculpted as needed, but many are left natural.
Even if you're not one for dolls or dollhouses, looking at the incredible handicraft of this piece will impress you — and maybe wish you were a mermaid, even if only for a minute.
So take a moment and peer into this tiny mermaid's abode!

Typically, this very delicate dollhouse is kept under a glass bell jar for protection. But even from here, it's already delightful. It kind of looks like it's made from candy!

But luckily for us, we get to take a closer look at this tiny masterpiece.

In all, this dollhouse is only nine inches tall and about seven inches wide. Everything you see, from the furniture to the structure itself, is made from various types of shell.

Each room is designed like a little pavilion, with a roof supported by spine-shaped shells. The bathroom, seen here, is topped with a starfish, while the other rooms have sea urchin roofs.

Each item is made from a shell, even the tiny ones. Take a closer look and see how the tub, sink, and even the mirror are all made from shells.

In the sitting room, there's a shell couch and some carved-shell coffee tables. If you look very carefully on the left side, you can even see a mini dollhouse on the side table. Look for the purple-colored support columns. Now that's attention to detail!

Each of the cosmetics bottles on this tiny vanity are also made from shells. And if you think the chair and table legs look like wood, they aren't! Those are sea urchin spines.

And of course there's a bed, too. You can also see some of Gabel's miniature flowers hanging around the ceiling, too. And, yes, they're also made of shells!

Looking at it, you can see just how carefully and lovingly every detail was constructed, down to the alarm clock on the bedside table. After all, mermaids need to be on time, too!
