Kari Jo Allen is one of Hawaii's most famous mermaids. No, seriously.
Ever since she was a little girl, Kari always wanted to be a mermaid, and once she got old enough to do something about it, she decided to make her dreams a reality! Now she makes a living doing live shows all over the US, and even has a line of environmentally friendly mermaid tails.
While this may be an odd story to some, to me it's a great representation of where following your dreams can lead you. Even if people tell you that you're crazy, if you want something, and you work toward it — it can happen!
