A Michigan couple, who had spent almost six decades by each other's side, died just days apart.
Similarly to the Iowa couple who died one hour apart, Billy and Betty Hunter's family and friends believe it was their hope all along to leave this world together.
“I really believe that,” the couple’s longtime neighbor, Jessie Allen, told Fox 17. “They were so close together and he tried to get her everything she wanted."
Billy and Betty Hunter tied the knot on May 22, 1954. The couple, originally from Arkansas, moved to Michigan and went on to have four children together and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Hunter, a seamstress, was sent to the hospital after falling and hurting her back. She was then placed in hospice care after doctors found that she had bleeding on her brain. Shortly after, Billy also went to the hospital while suffering stage four stomach cancer.
According to the news report, the couple got to speak to each other one last time before the former mechanic passed away a few days later at the age of 79. His wife followed just 60 hours later at 76 years old.
"Billy and Betty were extremely proud grandparents who received great enjoyment watching their granddaughters in gymnastics. Billy also liked quiet time outdoors mowing and trips with his wife to visit family. Billy was also a loving caregiver to his wife Betty, to whom he married nearly 60 years ago at a ceremony in Arkansas," the couple's 2014 obituary read.
