A missing persons case reached a tragic end on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Authorities confirmed an elderly couple, Robert and Loveda Proctor, were found dead inside their vehicle, which was "stuck on a minimum maintenance road" in Buffalo County, Colorado. This was not the outcome anyone was hoping for.
Bob and Loveda were reported missing in January of this year. They were 89 and 92 years old at the time of their deaths. They were proud grandparents and great-grandparents.
Police found the bodies because of a tip they received. A concerned citizen reported the stuck car just north of 100th and Keystone Road at around 3:15 p.m. When police investigated, they made the tragic discovery.
According to the couple’s son, Victor Proctor, the location they were found at was about 60 miles away from their home. The investigation into their deaths is still ongoing, but no foul play is suspected. Autopsies will be performed to confirm this.

On January 11, 2023, Bob and Loveda left Grand Island Hospital to return home. They never made it. On January 12, they were spotted on video surveillance footage at a Pump & Pantry gas station on Highway 6 in Hastings. This was the last time they were seen alive.
Victor knew something was wrong when he tried to bring food to his parents' house. Instead, he found it dark and empty. He reported them missing.
His wife, Tammy, spoke about his missing parents to ABC affiliate KHGI-TV. "When Victor took the food over there to them, they weren't there and it was dark," Tammy said.
Victor and Tammy believe that the couple might have gotten lost when trying to drive home at night. Driving at night confused Loveda.
"Grandma doesn't usually drive when it's dark," Tammy stated.
Loveda and Bob were partners for close to 70 years. They were blessed with eight grandchildren and “several more” great-grandchildren. Bob served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. More recently he suffered from dementia, with Loveda acting as his caregiver.
