High school can be a really tough time for many people. It's hard to trust that you'll stay friends with your crew forever, social media can be a real distraction, and focusing on school can be impossible for these young adults.
You can easily understand how all the stress can affect a high school student, but, unless the student is in danger, I see no reason for a parent to get involved. That's why the following story out of Staten Island, NY is so completely mind-boggling. Just when I thought I've seen all the crazy parents out there, this mom comes along…
When Karen Shearon learned that her daughter, a student at Susan Wagner High School, had failed one of her Regents exams, she was understandably furious. Students must pass five Regents tests in order to graduate from public high schools in New York State. However, instead of punishing her daughter, the 48-year-old mother of three apparently lost control and told the school's guidance counselor "I am going to blow up the school."
Shearon was arrested by police for aggravated harassment and is awaiting arraignment. A school official told Staten Island Live that the students' safety and security is always their top priority.
Can you believe this hot-tempered mother? Should she be punished for the threat, or did she just overreact while in an angered state? Let us know what you think, and please SHARE this video to get the discussion going on Facebook!
