Mom’s Over-The-Top Christmas Decorations Spark Hoarding Accusations And TikTok Backlash

You can be clean and collect decor and frilly accessories instead of bags of rocks and stacks of newspapers and still be a hoarder, apparently. In a TikTok that a user by the name of The Blues Marie and B, featuring a mother, Marie, and her daughter, Marie shows the “winter wonderland” that is her home. But instead of other users commenting on the holiday magic of it all, they quickly pointed out how much stuff there is in the family’s home and how claustrophobic it might feel to others.

Some also called Marie and her daughter hoarders and referred to the home as “a nice clean hoard.” Marie clapped back at haters in other videos after the one with the tour of her heavily decorated living room, but the hits kept coming in the form of those who just don’t see the value or appeal in how extensively she decorates her home.

A woman posted videos of her cluttered and decorated home for the holidays.

@thebluesmarieandb For everyone wondering where we sit, this is our living room, and yes, we have plenty of seating! 😂❤️ Our electric fireplace is fully functional, and our power reclining sofas have built-in USB charging ports. Even our coffee table has USB charging ports and a lift-top feature! Everything is functional, comfortable, and decorated exactly how we love it! 🎄❄️#Christmas2026 #WinterWonderland #ChristmasDecor #ChristmasDecorations #ChristmasCountdown ♬ original sound – Blues' House | Mrs. Marie & B

In her video showing what her living room looks like, Marie says that there is more room than what there appears to be on-camera in her videos. Apparently, some users think the house looks downright crowded, but, per Marie, the perception is all off. But there is no getting around the magnitude of winter decorations in the living room, including fake snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, throw pillows in silver, gold, and white, and silver holiday decor throughout the room.

There are also silver glittery ornaments in the room as decoration, and multiple stockings hung up for the holiday season. In another video, Maria shows more decor, including picture frames that look like they are made out of disco balls, white fake flowers set up in her home in vases, and even a table full of gift cards.

Although she set everything up in September, she wrote in the comments that she doesn’t celebrate Halloween, so it made sense for her to create a “Christmas Wonderland” in her home. But it didn’t make much sense for other people, who still can’t wrap their heads around the purpose of the amount of decorations and general stuff in Maria’s home in the name of the holiday season.

People called her out for the overconsumption and decor.

In the video showing Maria’s living room and couch covered in pillows, people commented to share how overstimulated they would be in the room.

“I would have to walk out of the room to think about what I wanna say,” one person commented.

“I’d wake up from a nap thinking I was about to meet Dolly at the Pearly Gates!” Another user added.

Others commented to share that they think the house looks more like a display at a department store or garden center than a home where people live. Then, someone wrote, “This [is] giving me anxiety, my goodness.”

Someone else joked, “Santa can’t even walk through here.” But Maria liked that comment, so it appears she does have a sense of humor when it comes to some of the more harmless judgements on her decorations.

Others want to know how the content creator and her family actually live in their home.

In another video Marie shared, she shows decorations from over the years to prove that she and her family have been doing the same thing for years. So yes, she and her family live in the home that they decorate so intensely. Cleaning everything throughout the season is a little less clear, but it’s all pretty legit.

When someone asked where Maria and her family store everything, she responded and said that everything goes in large storage bins under the basement stairs. And the negative comments are only fueling Maria.

She commented on one of her posts that, since people are in such an “uproar,” she might just leave it all up until Valentine’s Day.
