There's something about a pretty little doll that is so appealing to a child. The styled hair, the grown-up makeup, and the elaborate clothing all make the allure of the doll so enticing for school-aged children. But unfortunately, many dolls are perpetuating image issues, especially for little girls who want to see themselves in these idealized mini-mannequins.
It seems the market is so full of dolls who have over-the-top hair and makeup, and even body types that are unrealistic, and these things can be harmful for young children to be repeatedly exposed to.
But one mother decided to take matters into her own hands.
An Australian mom in Tasmania started buying used dolls as a fun hobby and she began giving them makeovers. After she was laid off from her job, she decided to give second-hand Bratz dolls a "makeunder."
Not only is she giving the dolls a more updated look for the next generation of young women, but she's being eco-friendly as well. She's taking what might have been considered trash and giving it a new lease on life!
We absolutely love the creativity and ingenuity of this brilliant mom and we know you'll be in love with the stunning outcome of her doll makeunders." Check out the full video to see her process and the au naturel looks of these pre-loved dolls.
