Peloton has become quite the popular company throughout the last few years. Not only has it gone viral for its commercials, but the company helped people get healthier during the health crisis when gyms were closed. Having a home gym is a wonderful idea if you're trying to stay active.
However, parents might not realize that equipment can be very harmful to children — even equipment they may not assume would be a problem. The Peloton treadmill has been noted for being quite dangerous, and many children have gotten severely hurt. One child even died.
Peloton was quick to address the issue, saying it feels remorse over its product causing such terrible consequences. "While we are aware of only a small handful of incidents involving the Tread+ where children have been hurt, each one is devastating to all of us at Peloton, and our hearts go out to the families involved," said John Foley, Peloton's CEO and a cofounder.
Inside Edition showcases one particularly haunting video that luckily had a happy ending. A Peloton user was going hard on the treadmill when, before she knew it, an exercise ball was sucked in underneath. Her child was in the room at the time, just yards away.
Aside from watching how quickly an incident can occur, the video also shows some great safety features and suggestions to make sure something similar doesn't happen in your home.
