Ashley Ness and her partner Val Bettencourt welcomed four beautiful babies to the world on July 28. These babies consisted of two sets of identical twins, which is so rare that its occurrence is "like 1 in 10 million." The quads were born 12 weeks early, and one of them, Chelsey, struggled to thrive because of this.
Unfortunately, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at just 6 months old, baby Chelsey died. Ashley confirmed this to People magazine and spoke about how proud she was of her daughter’s short, brave, yet beautiful life.
"My beautiful daughter, Chesley May, was called home to Heaven after a courageous six months of life. Her passing leaves a huge emptiness in the hearts of all of us; her parents, her siblings, her family and the NICU team at Mass General hospital,” Ashley began her statement.
Chelsey, whose birth weight was “only 1 pound 7 ounces,” was a fighter who underwent multiple surgeries in her short life. "Day in and day out she fought and fought and continued to beat the odds. Her strength was unwavering. Each time she overcame an obstacle we were so excited thinking that finally all the quads would be home together soon. We were positive that she would live a long and healthy life,” Ashley went on to say.
Chelsey’s short life made a lasting impression on her family. They will never forget her and will work hard to honor her memory. "We will forever miss her laughing face, her funny little air leak sounds, and the sparkle in her big beautiful eyes. We are so proud of her and know that she is at peace,” Ashley concluded.
