If you're looking for a cool place to monkey around, all you need to do is point your GPS to Greenwood, MO and pay a visit to Dana Savorelli's nonprofit organization Monkey Island Rescue.
Established to create a sanctuary for exotic wild animals that might not have anywhere else to go, the place is a veritable primate palace, filled with all different types of monkeys and different toys and things for them to climb on. Even Dana's home has become part of the attraction for the furry little friends.
One primate, however, has invented an all-new game of her own that none of the other monkeys are playing. In the video below, you'll see how an adorable gibbon named Aperil has a penchant for putting a wooly hat over her head and running around the living room like a mad little monkey.
The silliest part of her game, though, is when she bumps into things, pulls off the hat, looks around for a few seconds like she's thinking, "What just happened?" and then covers her head again and continues bumping into different objects.
It's pretty darned cute, but what really brings smiles to my face is the fact that there are so many different primates living in peace on Savorelli's 10-acre farm when, if it weren't for Monkey Island Rescue, they might not have anywhere at all to go.
Keep playing your silly game, Aperil. As long as you're safe and you're having fun!
