Every once in a while a small kick to the pants, as the old adage goes, can do us some good. One cheeky tourist got the lesson of a lifetime after baiting a monkey into action.
A man who was allegedly traveling in Shimla, India got the shock of a lifetime after camera footage showed him making an obscene gesture at a free-roaming monkey. These monkeys, who are, according to the Huffington Post, known locally to be mischievous cohabitants of the area, then leaped from his fence post and kicked the man to the ground. He quickly scurried back up to his post and forewent any other interaction with the rude passerby.
The video’s description notes that in the clip, “the boy looks straight into the eyes of this monkey who is sitting near a bench, where other people are also seated and provokes the animal by showing middle finger.” The baiting of the monkey by attempting to assert dominance is what triggered the action, it explains. “This is seen as an open challenge by the monkey, who knocks the boy down with a wrestling like move.” They add that no injuries ensued, but the man’s confidence surely took a hit of sorts.
