March is Women's History Month. It's also the anniversary of one of the most iconic figures in doll history, Barbie. Barbie will celebrate 63 years since she first came out on March 9.
It's safe to say that since her debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York City in 1959, Barbie has made a concerted effort to reflect the ideas and dreams of the modern girl, though she's been a controversial figure at times. Her staying power is a testament to evolving with the generations.
