One of my favorite kinds of stories to cover here at LittleThings is those about families being reunited.
We've read stories about mothers finding children stolen from them 50 years before, and even long lost loves coming back together after 43 years apart.
Reunion stories always have an element of surprise, and the high emotions of the situations can always bring me to tears.
And the story of how La-Sonya Mitchell-Clark found her birth mom might be one of the most incredible I have ever heard.
It all started when the Ohio Department of Health released birth records for people born between January 1, 1964 and September 18th, 1996. La-Sonya Mitchell-Clark knew the records were released and, with the support and blessing from her adoptive family, she decided to begin searching for her birth mother. Little did she know her birth mother and three sisters live just six minutes away from her. And that's not even the craziest part…

La-Sonya's adoptive family was always encouraging of her decision to find out who her biological mother was. She was finally able to get her answers when her birth records were made public.
Nervously, she sent off for the information, having no idea how close her birth mom was the entire time.
The results notified her that the name of her birth mother was Francine Simmons.
While at work, La-Sonya began to piece together some things. She happened to know a Francine...
In fact, this Francine worked at the very same place she did.
It turns out La-Sonya and her biological mother worked in the very same business. Because the company was fairly large, they didn't know each other well. They would pass each other in the halls and greet each other, but they never had a clue just how closely related they were.
Francine gave birth to La-Sonya when she was only 15, and she knew that putting her up for adoption would probably be the best thing for La-Sonya.
Not only was La-Sonya reconnected with her mother, but she now had three sisters to add to her family. It gets even crazier, though...
La-Sonya had also been working with her sister this whole time!
The family is relieved to have some closure in this matter, and they're looking forward to getting to know each other. La-Sonya's adoptive family is also happy that La-Sonya was able to find her biological mother.
