Depending on where you live, it's possible you've looked out your window and seen a deer in your backyard or a turkey crossing the road. The more humans encroach on undisturbed land, the less space wildlife has left to live and thrive.
As a kid, I watched as my green, tree-filled backyard in Pennsylvania turned into spec houses and a bustling street. Suddenly, there was no place for wildlife to go.
I was surprised to find animals of all kinds hiding in my backyard or sunning themselves on the porch. I don't think I was ever as surprised as Kathy Inman, however.
It was a seemingly normal day, until Inman looked out of her front window to see a funny creature lounging on her front porch.
She tapped on the glass and, as the creature turned to look at her, she couldn't believe what she was seeing!
Scroll down to find out what Inman saw on her front porch that day, and let us know what you think of the shocking visitor in the comments below.

When Utah resident Kathy Inman looked out onto her front porch one day, she saw something odd.
She thought the ball of fur sunning itself might be a neighbor's runaway dog.

She tapped on the glass to get the animal's attention and, as it turned around, she almost couldn't believe her eyes.
Looking back at her was a massive mountain lion.

The lazy mountain lion, undeterred by the woman's presence, went back to her nap as Inman stood there stunned.
Eventually, she did call the authorities to let them know a wild cat was wandering the neighborhood!

Rhett Riding, Inman's neighbor, caught word of the giant cat's presence and stepped outside to document the excitement.
For the most part, however, there wasn't much to see!

The large female cat dozed for hours on the front porch, much to the amusement of the entire neighborhood.
Everyone stepped out to sneak a peak at the rare sighting.

Eventually animal control officers showed up with a tranquilizer gun.
They carefully aimed at the sleepy cat, but the interesting day didn't end there.
She ran off and led animal control on a chase through the neighborhood for about an hour!
Finally, exhausted, the mountain lion gave in to the effects of the tranquilizer and dozed off once more.

The next morning, animal control officers brought her to a nice open area, far away from suburban onlookers.
She happily hopped out of the truck and dashed away to find her next lounging spot.
What would you do if you saw a big cat like this outside your window?
