Teacher Uses Music To Cure His Student’s Severe Stutter

Getting through the years of school without becoming the unfortunate victim of bullying has sadly grown more and more difficult for students. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what crueler children will pick up on to tease their classmates, but those with impediments are particularly vulnerable.

Luckily, some are able to rise above and find strength despite the odds against them. Some even grow to befriend their tormenter in touching acts of maturity and forgiveness. Others, like the boy in this video, find comfort and courage with some help from their instructors. The best teachers are those with the passion to connect with their students and guide them through what can be the most difficult times in their lives. Clearly, Mr. Burton from this school in Yorkshire, England, is one of those driven individuals.

In year 11, Mushara, or Mushy as he likes to be called, suffered from a severe stutter that caused him to not only be made fun of, but also hide himself away in shyness. While working with him to overcome the obstacle, Mr. Burton remembered something from The King's Speech that features Prince Albert conquering a similar issue.

Using the method of listening to music while he speaks, Mr. Burton is floored to hear how well Mushy is able to recite the words in front of him. By the end of the clip, he's even able to do so in front of his entire school!
