Stranger Visits Dead Boy’s Grave For 70 Years Until Sister Finally Uncovers His Identity

For decades, the English village of Cotswold was plagued with a puzzling mystery. In 1947, a 12-year-old boy scout named Karl Smith died of accidental drowning during a camping trip. The tragedy left a lasting mark on his community and his parents received hundreds of letters from grieving neighbors. Karl's sister Ann was only seven when he died, so she wasn't left with many memories of her brother.

As the years passed and other family members passed away, Ann continued to visit Karl's grave. She began to notice someone else had been visiting, too — someone with a penchant for anonymously leaving personal gifts at his marker. Every time Ann visited Karl's grave she'd find something new, like a pheasant's feather, sheafs of corn and messages with Karl's name on them.

This went on for 70 years. Despite Ann's tireless efforts, she couldn't uncover the identity of the mysterious visitor. She published messages in local magazines, attended scout meetings… but it was clear this person didn't want to be found. Was it a classmate of Karl's? A family friend? A fellow boy scout? Whoever it was, Karl must have made a big impression for someone to go out of their way to this extent.

Then one day, an intrigued journalist named Camila Ruz joined Ann on her mission to track down the stranger.

It wasn't long before Camila was digging up clues within the handwritten messages left on Karl's grave. And in the video below, Camila arrived at a nervous Ann's home with news that left her reeling.
