The details of the apparent murder of New York mom Orsolya Gaal are growing more sinister as authorities reveal Gaal's husband was sent a series of mysterious texts about the killing.
Gaal's body was found in a duffel bag near her home in mid-April 2022. Both her husband, Howard Klein, and oldest son were out of town at the time of her death, but her 13-year-old son was home alone.
Authorities currently believe that Orsolya Gaal went out the night she was killed, and they now believe she might have been meeting up with another man. She reportedly told her son she was meeting friends, but new details dispute that claim.
Gaal was killed in the basement of her own home. The killer then reportedly used her phone to text her husband that "your whole family is next," followed by, "Your wife sent me to jail some years ago. I'm back."
Gaal's husband told the New York Post, "[My son] Leo is safe. Thank God [my son] is safe. There are concerns about our safety. Our lives are at risk."
Footage from surveillance cameras throughout the area have also shed more light on what happened.
The footage shows someone dressed in a hoodie dragging a duffel bag. Authorities have noted that the bag is a lot like one that her 13-year-old son often uses.
An unnamed police officer told the publication that things are confusing, explaining, "Something is not adding up. But there are cameras along the way. They’ll tell if it’s an adult or a child."
The officer added, "She knew the people she was out with. We're talking to them. We also have to figure out, did she meet some mysterious stranger along the way?"
Police have questioned Gaal's 13-year-old and have decided he is not a suspect in the crime.
