Anthony Zottola is currently on trial for the 2018 assassination of his father, real estate mogul Sylvester “Sally Daz” Zottola. Anthony Zottola is accused of planning the murder of his father, which took place at a McDonald's drive-thru. Zottola reportedly paid $200,000 for the act.
Zottola reportedly worked with nine people to plan the shooting, and everyone accused faces the death penalty or life in prison.
Assistant US Attorney Devon Lash told the jury that Zottola had his father killed with the hope that he would inherit his father's vast real estate empire. As Lash put it, "The defendant wanted that control."
His father reportedly made more than $1 million a year with his real estate business, and Lash also told jurors that multiple attempts were made on the man's life in the months that preceded his death.
Anthony Zottola's older brother, Salvatore Zottola, was also reportedly attacked and shot multiple times.
