For kids suffering from illnesses that cause them to lose their hair, whether it's cancer treatment or a genetic condition, those who choose to donate their locks to charity are giving them a priceless gift.
That's what 18-year-old Nic did back in 2011. His younger brother, Julien, would later follow his footsteps when he made his own drastic hairstyle change the day before prom.
Nic, however, decided to wait until the day before his last day of high school for his trip to the salon. With his sister, Wendy, recording the whole thing, the teen manages to not get emotional as the hairdresser begins snipping away at his strands. In fact, he seems to have a great sense of humor about the whole thing as he makes silly faces and jokes throughout the process.
Aside from the kind gesture, Nic was also taking the big leap in order to secure a job as a lifeguard at one of the local hotels in his hometown of Las Vegas. Most of the establishments have strict grooming policies, so it all had to go.
I love how goofy it looks with his hair bunched up into three long ponytails before she starts cutting. Nic planned to grow it into a mohawk, so she made sure to keep the sides short with some angled length at the top.
It's amazing to think he could grow such a long, flowing mane in just four years!
