If I could choose any other decade to live in, it would definitely be the 1960s. In fact, I used to wish I could wake up and discover some magical time warp had happened in my sleep and I'd see all the bright colors and kitschy fun from the era waiting in my bedroom.
It all started when I stumbled upon a little show called The Monkees as a teen, and from there, I fell head over heels for the whole period! All of my affection for the '90s boy bands dominating the charts melted away and transferred to the zany guys singing on my screen.
That said, I've definitely discovered some, well, questionable choices people made throughout those chaotic and exciting years. It's hard to believe some of these things were actually considered normal back then!
No decade is perfect, of course, but you might be surprised just how wacky things were when you take this walk down memory lane.

1. You were getting hitched
According to Psychology Today, a study done just before the era began showed that 80 percent of Americans believed those who wanted to stay single were "immoral," "neurotic," or "sick."
2. The bigger the hair, the better
It seems that most women during the decade were in an unspoken competition to see who could make their hair taller than a skyscraper.
3. Guys with long locks, though, suffered Walt Disney's scorn
When men started growing their hair long with the hippie movement, Disney took a stand for traditional values by not allowing any "long-haired weirdos" into his parks. The rule was eventually lifted, of course.
4. Baby-doll dresses were appropriate for ladies of any age
To be honest, I wouldn't be mad if this one came back in style again. Look how cute those sleeves are!
5. Women wore more on the beach than men
Obviously, nice young ladies were meant to be modest and humble. Men, on the other hand, sported short shorts and speedos while catching waves.
6. Kids Halloween costumes could actually scare you
JFK was clearly a very brave man to find his little monsters amusing rather than terrifying! I'd be running out the door.
7. Toys were also disturbing
Would you give something like this to your kids or grandkids today? I'm pretty sure they would have given me nightmares!
8. Ordering a "salad" might come with some wiggle
It seems like everyone was throwing veggies into their Jell-o molds throughout the swinging '60s. Yum?
9. Your favorite shows came on these tiny, blurry screens
You'd have a choice of maybe three channels for your evening entertainment — if you could afford one of the super expensive sets and manage to get the picture tuned in by the time the episode started.
10. Computers could barely fit into a room
Computer technology was still in its infancy. This is the first commercial electronic computer, which was used by the U.S. Navy.
11. Volkswagen vans were the coolest way to travel
Shag carpeting on the inside was optional, but either way, you could count on your friends being super jealous of your groovy ride.
12. A ticket to see the biggest band in the world was less than $5
The Beatles and their fellow rock 'n' rollers sold out arenas to screaming fans for what feels like pennies compared to today's prices.
13. Flight attendants had a flair for style
Not that today's helpful crews are any less chic, but you have to admit these mod outfits had an extra dash of fashion. The passengers also likely dressed up in their Sunday finest for the ride!
