Adrianne Haslet-Davis was the third-ranking ballroom dancer in the world.
Then tragedy struck on April 15, 2013. During the Boston Bombings, Adrian suffered severe injuries. Her lower left leg had to be amputated, and her right leg was hit by shrapnel.
I think you'll find that the survivors of the Boston Bombings are some of the most triumphant, resilient people in America. Rebekah Gregory was also at the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013; a leg amputee as well, Gregory was able to complete the marathon as a runner this year.
Now, two years later, Adrian is returning to the finish line where the horrible event took place. What she does will move you to tears.
"I refuse to be called a victim. I am not defined by what happened in my life. I am a survivor, defined by how I live my life," Adrian wrote on her blog.
The moment was documented by Oberto, whose new campaign focuses on ordinary American heroes like Adrian.
“Oberto is honored to shine a light on everyday heroes across America — from those overcoming overwhelming obstacles to those supporting their communities — that embody our brand message of 'You Get Out What You Put In,' ” said David Lakey, vice president of marketing.
