They Send A Camera To The Bottom Of The Ocean…But Never Expect To Find THIS Chilling Discovery

Special thanks to the team at Quartz for producing this stunning video!

With all of our modern-day technology, it's shocking to realize that 95% of Earth's oceans' depths remain completely unexplored. So when a team of scientists sent a remote-controlled submersible to the very deepest depths of the ocean, they had no idea what they were about to discover.

They found unknown and completely unnamed creatures, all swimming around happily, without the foggiest inclination that humans exist or that there is even a world above the surface.

Off the coast of Puerto Rico, at a depth of nearly two miles, with crushingly powerful pressure pushing down from thousands and thousands of feet of water, this team of scientists pushed their remote-controlled craft deeper and deeper.

Using a live-stream video feed, the scientists were able to show their footage instantly to a large group of experts who were watching the video. All masters in their own fields of study, with some specializing in squids, or jellyfish, or fish, this allowed the team to instantly realize when they had discovered a brand new animal!

Sitting in a chat room on the internet while watching this breathtaking footage allowed the group of scientists to explore these new discoveries faster than ever before, checking off what was known to be unknown for further scientific study.

While we've still got a lot of exploring left to do, and our beautiful planet certainly has billions more secrets it's keeping from us, these small steps will continue us all on the path to enlightenment.

What would you name the beautiful creature at the :25 mark? We came up with "Fluffy Guy!"
