Police Officer Adopts Puppy Found At Crime Scene

It was a fateful day when officers from the West Valley City Police Department in Utah were called to check on a man lying unconscious in a hotel room. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the man had taken a large amount of drugs. Heroin and drug paraphernalia were scattered around the room, along with stolen checks and the personal information of dozens of victims.

Detective Mike Lynes was on the scene when he discovered something else — a tiny puppy. Little Daisy was exhausted, malnourished, and weak. She'd been hiding in the bathroom, alone and terrified. No pet should ever live among such danger and disfunction.

A family member came to claim another dog who was found inside the room. However, the little dog named Daisy had no home, no place to go. Detective Lynes brought Daisy to animal control, dropped her off, and left. There is a mandatory waiting period to see if anyone would claim abandoned dogs — but the detective couldn't get Daisy out of his mind.

What happened next proves that there aren't just good police officers out there, but great ones…

Detective Mike Lynes was on the scene of a drug-fueled crime when he found a tiny puppy hiding in the bathroom. He picked her up and brought her to safety.

The officers were completely smitten — but Daisy had to be dropped off at animal control for a mandatory waiting period to see if anyone could claim her. All the while, Officer Lynes couldn't stop thinking about her.

When no one claimed the little dog, Detective Lynes happily adopted Daisy as part of his family.

These days, Daisy dons her new police vest to teach kids about the dangers of drug abuse. Her story is a powerful reminder that people aren't the only ones who suffer because of drug abuse — it can affect our four-legged friends, too.

When she's not busy keeping the streets safe, Daisy loves nothing more than relaxing at home with her family — all thanks to a kindhearted cop who refused to let her go.
