Before Christopher Young began working at his current job, he was homeless and addicted to drugs. He turned his life around with rehab, and it’s now very important to him not to disappoint the employers who took a chance on him.
When his ride fell through the morning he was supposed to open up at work, then, he started walking to work. The problem? His work was eight miles away and it would take him hours to get there.
Young didn’t have enough money on him to take the bus, so when he saw a police officer drive by, he waved him down. The officer driving by was Officer Coronado, who, according to a spokesman from the Tempe Police department, is “a reflection of what police should be.” Young explained his situation to Officer Coronado, and the cop was kind enough to drive him to work. Young was so overwhelmed by Officer Coronado’s kindness that he broke down in tears in the back of the police car.
When police officers take the time to not only keep the streets safe but extend goodwill to the public, it benefits all. Like Officer Coronado, this Massachusetts police officer was kind and caring to someone in need, and shared a meal with a woman who needed help. This California police officer played hopscotch with a young girl while his partner helped find housing for her and her homeless mother.
