Nicole Brown Simpson’s Sister Revealed How Much The Family Knew About OJ’s Abuse

For many children of the '90s, watching the trial of OJ Simpson is a shared memory. In school, many classrooms chose to air it live. Without a doubt, it was one of the most-watched televised trials of our time. While OJ was acquitted, there's been chatter to this day over what actually happened to his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson.

Nicole was married to OJ, then best known for being a professional football player, between 1985 and 1992. They had two children together. Nicole was with her friend Ron Goldman when they were both murdered in 1994. Since OJ and Nicole's divorce was somewhat messy, with OJ allegedly abusing Nicole, he was the prime suspect.

At the time of her death, Nicole was only 35. While she had told a few people OJ physically abused her, many didn't understand how truly bad it was. It may have been due to the athlete's star power at the time, as — unfortunately — powerful men who commit serious crimes can easily sweep them under the rug.

Dr. Oz had Nicole's sister, Tanya Brown, on his show to discuss what happened. Tanya admits the "charismatic person" they saw on the outside was much different behind closed doors. She stated that OJ treated Nicole much differently while not out in public. These moves were all intentional. It's an important reminder that you can never truly tell what's happening in someone's relationship. Even if someone doesn't look or act like an abuser, it doesn't necessarily make them innocent.
