Old Folks Choir Sings A Tear-Jerking Rendition Of ‘Fix You’

Get ready to reach for your tissues as Fred Knittle of the Young@Heart Chorus performs "Fix You" by Coldplay. The chorus was created by and for the elderly, comprised of people at least 70 years old. Young@Heart is particularly noted for their unconventional covers of rock, punk, and other modern pop music songs, like the one you're about to see.

The Young@Heart Chorus is based in western Massachusetts. Bob Cilman, the director, auditions new voices every week. The current performers range in age from 73 to 91. There are some with prior professional theater or music experience, others who have performed extensively on the amateur level, and some who have never stepped onto a stage before turning 80! Though none of the current performers were part of the original group that formed in 1982, "they have kept alive the spirit of the early pioneers and continue to push the group into glorious new directions."

Fred has since passed away, but we have this incredible performance to remember him — and to serve as a powerful reminder that you're only as old as you feel. When Fred and the choir sing, I can't help but think of my own grandparents and how fleeting time can truly be.
